Fine Cut Woodworks was established in 2012, after founder Jimmy Lipscomb decided it was time to put his passion for designing, creating and working with wood for over 15 years into his own business.

As a young boy, Jimmy would often be found in the garden, whittling sticks and building little wooden creations, or exploring in his Grandfather’s workshop and admiring his tools. This is when his love of working with wood began. Over the years, Jimmy has worked alongside different joiners, cabinet and furniture makers, as well as artists, which have all lead to him finding his own path and creating Fine Cut Woodworks.

With a well established workshop based in Oxfordshire, Jimmy and his wife Sophie work closely with clients, including home-makers, interior designers and architects to ensure they have a personal experience, dealing with them directly to ensure all the projects are as completely individual as their clients are.

At Fine Cut Woodworks we pride ourselves on specialising in bespoke cabinetry and kitchens. Collaborating with clients from the beginning, we ensure the design, creation and installation are all part of one integrated process fulfilled in house.

As all of our projects are bespoke and handmade, we tailor our approach around this focus. We understand that starting a new project can be overwhelming, which is why we offer a clear process to be able to move things forward with you.

We begin with a free project consultation arranged at a mutually convent time (fees may apply for London based locations). Jimmy will visit you to discuss your plans and ideas, take measurements and advise you on design, materials, finishes and configuration to create the best solution for your space and use.

Following this meeting we will provide you with a detailed initial quotation, specifying materials, finishes and fixtures. This initial quote may be subject to any changes in design, materials and layout etc. In some cases a 2D visual design may be provided at this stage.

After receiving your initial quote, should you wish to progress with your project, a 10% booking deposit is to be made, securing your space within our schedule. We will then work together to adjust any elements of your project before moving forward to the design stage. (If any changes affect the cost, you will be provided with an updated quote)

We create full 3D visual designs of all our projects, detailing the design details, materials, finishes and dimensions for you to really get a feel of what the end result will be. You will also be provided with a full design spec document, with images and information relating to your project. At this stage Jimmy will visit you again to go through the finer details of the design and material samples, fixture options and paint samples may also be provided.

In preparation of moving onto creating your project, a further deposit of 40% is to be made (dependant on the scale of the project this deposit amount may vary).

All projects are then made in house at our workshop in Oxfordshire, which is fully equipped with high quality modern woodworking machinery, allowing us to create bespoke cabinetry and kitchens efficiently and to a high standard. We work with a vast range of materials and finishing products to create your bespoke project and we use the best quality fittings and hardware as standard for all our projects.

By creating everything within our workshop, we minimise the installation time within your home or environment and therefore lessening the disruption to you. We will agree a convenient installation date/s with you, the installation time is dependant on the scale of the project, and we may have assistants with us during this time.

We also have highly reputable electricians, plumbers and tillers, which we have worked closely with and can recommend to be involved in your project installation if required.

Once the project is complete, you will be invoiced for the remaining balance due. We love to have a reference of our all projects, so with your agreement we may want to return to take final photos.
